Perhydropolysilazane (PHPS) Resin | SIOResin® SIO-9333

SIO-9333 is a high-performance liquid inorganic precursor coating based on perhydropolysilazane (PHPS) resin, diluted with highly compatible inert organic solvents. It can uniformly wet a wide range of substrates, including metals, ceramics, glass, and polymers. The product features easy application and excellent leveling, forming a colorless, transparent, and dense wet film at room temperature.

Upon moisture or heat curing, the molecular chains undergo directional inorganic transformation, forming an in-situ high-purity, dense SiO2 (silica) / SiON ceramic passivation layer. The cured coating exhibits ultra-high hardness, extremely low surface energy, outstanding barrier properties, long-term weather resistance, humidity resistance, and high-temperature oxidation resistance. It is suitable for demanding applications such as long-term protection, electrical insulation, transparent wear-resistant coatings, and gas/moisture barrier layers.

Typical Applications

  • Anti-graffiti coatings for building exteriors
  • Anti-oxidation protection for metals and alloys
  • Coatings for rail transit interiors and exteriors
  • Semiconductor insulation and passivation layers
  • Moisture and corrosion protection for electronic circuits
  • Barrier coatings for food packaging films
  • High-temperature protective coatings for metals (up to 800°C)
  • Hard coatings for glass, optics, and plastic surfaces

Curing Mechanism

The curing process begins with hydrolysis of Si–N bonds when exposed to moisture, forming reactive silanol (Si–OH) groups. These groups undergo condensation reactions, forming a dense three-dimensional network. With continued curing, the structure transforms into a stable, dense SiO2/SiON ceramic network, providing excellent barrier and mechanical properties.

Standard Curing Conditions

1. Room-temperature curing: >7 days for full performance development
2. Accelerated curing: 90% RH, 150°C for 2 hours (recommended for industrial production)

Coating Performance

  • Excellent anti-corrosion and passivation performance
  • Strong resistance to alkali and salt environments; moderate resistance to weak acids
  • Superior wear and scratch resistance
  • Excellent dielectric insulation properties
  • Anti-graffiti and easy-to-clean surface

Application Method

1. Surface preparation: Thorough cleaning, degreasing, and drying are essential.
2. Application methods: Spin coating, wiping, spraying, or dipping.
3. Curing: Choose room-temperature curing or accelerated curing depending on production needs.
